April Carrión is the stage name of Jason Carrión who was a contestant on Season 6 of RuPaul's Drag Race. She was eliminated in episode 4.

Biography

Outside of drag race, nestled in the peak of a mountain in lovely, sunny Puerto Rico stood a house. Inside, a couple known as "Los Carrión" awaited their newest bundle of joy, he would turn out to be the cheekiest addition to their beautiful family. And future Rupaul's Drag Race Season Six Contestant. As the years passed, this toddler had a very energetic upbringing. He, along his two older brothers, ran amok. Jason could spend countless hours daydreaming of Taíno Princesses and lustrous colors shaded in the tropical rainforest of his backyard. These early years where filled to the brim with lessons in the arts, ballet, jazz, theatre. In short, an education that turned out to be the groundwork for his grand project.

In 2007 he joined the most renowned arts college in the Caribbean, "La Escuela de Artes Plasticas”  which gave Jason the tools to question the world he knew. During this time he won several prizes including an all-expense paid trip to Italy and the annual gallery exhibition, making him the first freshmen to ever win such prize.

Amidst a typical gay hangout for the young teen IT happened: center stage tucking, crumpled dollar bills, in her bustier was a lady boy, missing half a wig and sporting only a bottom lash to keep him company. This outstanding revelation planted a seed. The questioning of gender, identity, & the deconstruction of social constructs followed him. From Pipi, to Vajay jay With a heads up and only a month of preparation,  April embarked on her first drag competition as a form of documentation and experience.

He signed up for his first competition "Queen of the night" in Aquamares, a deserted club on the other side of the island, where the persecution of his performance would forever remain silent if everything went awry (tipping in pennies is a shameful practice). The rules of the competition were simple: the winner would be chosen by applause and you had to perform homage to Britney. In a innovate twist by Puerto Rican standard (FYI Puerto Rico is all about pageantry) April skipped the gimmicks that meant no pads, & no wigs. The refreshing proposal captured the public’s attention and against all odds April won her first title.

Road to Diva invented by legend extraordinaire Miss Nina Flowers was the biggest drag talent competition for newcomers in its hay day. It had weekly challenges and more plot twists than a telenovela (it Included talents such as Yara Sofia, Kenya Michaels, Kandy Ho & Queen Bee Ho').  April  signed up ambitious and ready. Sadly, this wasn't the victory she was hoping for, but most importantly, April gained fans and she was no longer homeless.

Hello new mom and sisters! The Dollhouse is the name and excellence is what it stands for. Lil' April, ever the current queen, found herself competing in the top of the top competition "Miss Krash" (the Drag version of Miss Universe in Puerto Rico) when she was taken in by the most well known drag house in the island. Whether it be their high end productions, expensive wigs, beautiful faces or fearless bitch attitude, Zahara Montierre, Rochelle Moncherri, Queen Bee Ho’, and Kandy Ho' embraced April in its powerful island domination and April never looked back.

With her new alliance and personal Team April secured the crown and was named Miss Krash Puerto Rico 2011. This new exposure and platform escalated her to numerous adventures including a leading role in Gloria Stefan’s "Hotel Nacional" (2012), face of the Puerto Rican Queer Film Festival (2012), and walking for numerous household designers in the Puerto Rican fashion industry (2013), as well as headlining Hair show galore "Battle of the Strands"(2013).

Currently April is between projects, having finished production on a two year documentary titled "MALA MALA" which explores the lives of young transsexuals & drag queens in Puerto Rico.

On the 11th of October 2016 (National Coming Out Day), April came out as genderqueer, saying "Sometimes(sic) I am, well a straight woman."

Drag Name Origin

Her name came from the month she was born and her real last name. She kept her last name so she would always make her family proud. Her drag mother is Boanerge Nazario (Bebo) who was the creative director of "The Doll House".
