Betina Polaroid is a Brazilian drag performer, photographer, and one of the contestants on the first season of Drag Race Brasil.

Drag Name Origin[]
When choosing her drag name, Betina wanted it to have the same initials as her real name. Betina is the female version of her legal name. It also comes from the 1992 Brazilian telenovela De Corpo e Alma, which featured a character called Betina (whose heart was later used in a transplant following her death), interpreted by actress Bruna Lombardi.[5] Initially, she thought of Betina Photoshop, but upon asking her friends for old photographic materials, she got a pink Polaroid 600 with details in green and purple, which became the inspiration for Polaroid.[6][2]

Trivia[]
- Betina Polaroid started doing drag professionally on March 13, 2015, at the age of 38, when the drag scene in Rio de Janeiro was reinventing itself after the popularization of RuPaul's Drag Race.[2][3][6]
- However, she did experiment drag prior this date, under the name Gisele Bicha.[2]
- Initially, Betina only photographed other drag artists, and throughout the time, began to express an interest in participating in the drag art herself. One of the reasons she started drag was an advice Laganja Estranja gave her.[2][7]
- Betina has worked as an assistant of photography, photojournalist, and as an autonomous photographer.[2]
- She is a Cancer sun, Capricorn rising, and Pisces moon.[8]
- She has ADHD and sensory processing disorder.[9]
- Betina is the drag aunt of Shannon Skarllet. Betina's partner, former drag performer Efêmera, is the drag daughter of Ravena Creole. Fellow castmate Organzza is also Ravena's daughter, and is the drag mother of Shannon.[10]
