Carmen Farala is a Spanish drag performer and one of the contestants of the first season of Drag Race España.

Carmen was later crowned España's First Drag Superstar at the finale.

Drag Name Origin[]

Carmen Farala's artistic name is inspired by Carmen Electra, she really liked the name 'Carmen' at a time in his childhood that was considered a typical old woman spanish name. Farala comes from a Spanish famous perfume commercial from the 80's. It is also the name of the ruffles or faralaes of the flamenco dresses, typical of Andalusia.[2] [3]

  • Carmen Farala is the second queen in the Drag Race franchise to be named "Carmen", after Carmen Carrera from the third season of RuPaul's Drag Race.
  • Carmen is part of a drag group known as "Hermanas Farala", alongside her drag sisters Bárbara and Vera Farala.[6]
  • Carmen is the first queen on Drag Race España to...
  • Carmen has stated that she has never seen any edition of RuPaul's Drag Race.[7] She later clarified in an interview that, once she found out she was on Drag Race España, she did watch a few episodes to familiarize herself with the format, but avoided watching too much to avoid her drag persona being influenced by American references.[8]
  • Carmen created every single outfit she wore in the competition.[9]
    • However, the snake she wore for the "Tribute To La Veneno" runway and her crowning look were created by different artists.[10][11]
  • Carmen made her Night of a Thousand Rosalías look the day of the runway in the Werk Room, after realizing she and Dovima Nurmi were planning to present the same look. Carmen also lent Dovima the VMA statue she used in the runway, and offered to lend her the entire outfit due to Dovima's version giving her some issues.[12]
  • Carmen is the seventh winner in the franchise to never place in the bottom 2 at all, with their only lip-sync being the lip-sync for the crown, following Tyra Sanchez, Bianca Del Rio, Violet Chachki, Sasha Velour, Aquaria, and Envy Peru.
  • In 2022, Carmen designed the costumes for Chanel Terrero, that was used in the preselection to represent Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022.[13]
  • Carmen is open to return on an All Stars season despite winning her original season.[14]
  • Carmen had a reveal for each look in case she ended up in the bottom two.[14]
