The first season of Drag Race Belgique was officially announced on April 29, 2022 on the WOW Presents Plus Instagram.[5] Casting opened the same day, with deadline of May 8, 2022.[5]
On July 5, 2022, Rita Baga was announced as the host of the series.[3] Lufy and Mustii were revealed as judges on January 7, 2023.[4] A premiere date of February 16, 2023 was also announced that same day in the video's description, but later removed. The same happened with a teaser published on January 23, 2023.
The ten contestants competing for the title of Belgique's Next Drag Superstar were revealed on January 25, 2023. The promo theme was "Galactique"[6]. The premiere date of February 16, 2023 was also officially announced that same day.[2] In Belgium, the season aired on RTBF's streaming platform, Auvio, and three days later on Tipik.[7] It aired on WOW Presents Plus worldwide.[2] The winner of Drag Race Belgique receive a cash prize of €20.000[1] and a crown and scepter from Aster Lab.[8]
The winner of the first season of Drag Race Belgique was Drag Couenne with Athena Sorgelikis placing as runner-up and Valenciaga winning Miss Congeniality.[9]

For the first time in its herstory, Belgium is welcoming the most glamorous drag competition. Hosted by the great French-Canadian diva, Rita Baga, Drag Race Belgique will demonstrate the immense talent and creativity of its drag scene. So be prepared for their audacity and authenticity![10]
