The fourth season of Drag Race Down Under was officially announced by World of Wonder on October 24, 2023.[4] Casting opened that same day, with deadline of November 11.
On March 11, 2024, it was officially announced that RuPaul will be stepping down as host, with Michelle Visage taking over as host and Rhys Nicholson remaining on the panel. It was also announced that various Down Under alum will appear as guests throughout the season.[2] This change also prompted the removal of RuPaul's name from the show's title.[2]
On October 3, 2024, it was announced that the Cast RuVeal would take place on October 10, 2024.[citation needed]
On October 25, 2024, it was announced that five past contestants would return on this season as judges and mentors. These were: Kita Mean, Spankie Jackzon and Isis Avis Loren, winners of the first three seasons, respectively.[3]As well as Kween Kong and Anita Wigl'it.
