The second season of Drag Race México was officially announced on July 31, 2023 through the official accounts of World of Wonder, more than a month before the previous season concluded. Casting opened on the same day, with a deadline of August 30, 2023.

On May 16, 2024, a teaser was uploaded showcasing the co-hosts for the second season of the show, Lolita Banana and the winner of Queen of the Universe (Season 2), Taiga Brava, who would be replacing Valentina.

On May 23, 2024, the Meet The Queens for the season was uploaded, where the thirteen contestants that would be competing to become México's Next Drag Superstar were unveiled. The promo theme was TBA. Additionally, the full release date for the season was stated at the end of the video to be June 20, 2024.

At the end of the twelfth episode, Leexa Fox was crowned México's Next Drag Superstar, with Eva Blunt, Horacio Potasio and Jenary Bloom placing as Runners-Up. Both Luna Lansman and Nina de la Fuente won the title of Miss Congeniality at the reunion, while Garçonne was awarded the title of Miss Look Perdido.

About The Show

Drag Race Mexico is a reality show in which thirteen drag queens compete for a cash prize, a scepter, and a crown but mainly, for the title of Mexico’s next drag superstar. The queens face each other in a series of creative and acting challenges, including fashion runways, live performances, and music video recordings; all of this as they try to impress the judge’s panel and avoid elimination. The queens will use their talent and personality to make it to the grand finale and compete in a lip-sync battle to snatch the crown.

Episode 1: "From Terror to Glamour"

Synopsis: El comienzo de la segunda temporada con trece reinas que entran al werkroom con la intención de demostrar que son la nueva súper estrella del drag mexicano. Las cosas empiezan muy complicadas con un reto de confección en el que pasarán de una ropa de terror a un look digno de la pasarela. La categoría es “Mis raíces” para revelarle a la mesa de jurados qué tan orgullosas están de su lugar de origen.

Episode 2: "Dance and Silver"

Synopsis: Después de la primera eliminación las reinas son conscientes de que la carrera va en serio. Así que enfrentan el minireto de preguntas sobre Drag Race con toda la intención de ser las ganadoras. Después de responder preguntas llega el momento de bailar. Para el maxireto dos grupos de baile se enfrentan en la pasarela con sus mejores pasos, soñando que su movimiento las aleje del lipsync y así salvarse de la segunda eliminación de la temporada.

Episode 3: "Fair Ball"

Airdate: July 4, 2024

Synopsis: Una reina debe llegar a todo lo alto y para el minireto de este capítulo tendrán que llegar al nivel de las estrellas. Una sesión de fotos como cazadoras de alienígenas abre el episodio y da paso al ball de la temporada que en esta oportunidad hace un homenaje a las ferias populares mexicanas. Fotos, tres pasarelas y una eliminada y en camino las historias de vida que nos permite conocer a las reinas cada vez más.

Synopsis: Llega el momento de las comedy Queens en el Reading. Y después de los mejores comentarios viene el momento de cantar y bailar en el maxireto, girl band. Después de tres eliminadas la tensión aumenta y nadie quiere llegar al bottom y menos a la batalla de lipsync. Así que estas bandas de chicas tendrán que esforzarse más que nunca.

Synopsis: Hasta este capítulo las reinas han intentado hacer reír a la mesa de jurados, pero llegó el momento de demostrar que sólo se estaban preparando y que están listas para el Snatch game. Episode 6: "National Drag"

Synopsis: Llega la mitad de la temporada con ocho reinas que siguen en la carrera. Y para que las cosas se compliquen un poco aparece de nuevo el terror de muchas, la confesión. Esta vez tendrán que enfrentarse a unas maletas que esconden elementos deportivos con los que deben diseñar un look digno de la pasarela de Drag Race. La pasarela definirá quien sabe confeccionar y quien llegará al lipsync.

Synopsis: Todo México conoce el tema que da origen al Rusical de este capítulo. Se trata de las telenovelas protagonizadas por un personaje que se llama María. Puede ser del barrio, puede ser con un perro que habla, pero siempre pobres y desdichadas. Así serán en este Rusical que reta la actuación, el canto y el baile de las reinas. La mejor tendrá un nuevo pin que lucir en el werkroom, la peor tendrá que irse a casa estando realmente cerca de la final.

Esta final será muy diferente a la primera: esta vez, cada reina mostrará su mejor talento para impresionar al panel de jueces. Un último lipsync por la corona decidirá quién es la mejor drag queen de las trece que llegaron al werkroom.

  • For instance, Elektra's age is stated to be 26, despite her being 27 during both the filming and airing of the season.
  • Inversely, Jenary's age is stated to be 27, despite her being 26 during the filming of the season.
  • Lastly, Suculenta's age is stated to be 27, despite her being 28 during both the filming and airing of the season.
• Drag family connections in this season include:
  • Horacio Potasio is the drag daughter of Drag Race México (Season 1) finalist, Gala Varo.
  • Jenary Bloom is the drag daughter of Madison Basrey from La Más Draga.
  • María Bonita is the drag daughter of Gvajardo from La Más Draga, as well as the drag mother of Rebel Mörk and Vera Cruz.
  • Eva Blunt and Nina de la Fuente are drag siblings, with both being drag daughters of Bárbara Durango and Cordelia Durango from La Más Draga.

• As shown during the MTQ, it was originally scheduled for the episodes to be released at noon. However, this decision was met with significant backlash from the contestants and the audience alike, which even led to a Change.org petition being created to move the release time to the evening.
  • As revealed by Óscar Madrazo, him and Lolita Banana were also taken aback by this decision, frantically calling each other as soon as they watched the MTQ. They also initially hoped it just had been a mistake by the editors.
  • The petition seemed to have an impact, as the trailer for the season, released two weeks before the premiere, announced that the release time had been moved to 8:00 P.M. (CST).
• The first episode of the season was dedicated in memory of non-binary activist and electoral magistrate of Aguascalientes, Jesús Ociel Baena Saucedo. Both Ociel and their partner were found dead at their home on November 13, 2023.
