The first season of Drag Race Philippines was officially announced on August 16, 2021 by World of Wonder via Instagram.[1] Casting opened that same day, with deadline of September 12, 2021.[2] The show is available on the company's online streaming service, WOW Presents Plus, to all countries except Canada, where it's available on Crave. In the Philippines, it is also available on Discovery+ and HBO Go.[3]
On May 14, 2022, Drag Race alumni Jiggly Caliente was announced as one of the permanent members of the judging panel. A premiere date of August 17, 2022, was also announced that same day.[4]
On July 11, 2022, Filipino actor and impersonator Paolo Ballesteros was announced as the series' host.[5] On July 20, 2022, KaladKaren was announced as a permanent judge.[6] BJ Pascual, Jon Santos, and Rajo Laurel were announced as rotating judges on August 10, 2022.[7]
The cast of Drag Race Philippines Season 1 was officially announced on July 27, 2022.[8] The promo theme was Jeepney.[9]
The winner of the first season of Drag Race Philippines was Precious Paula Nicole, with Marina Summers placing as the runner-up. Lady Morgana was voted Miss Congeniality by her fellow castmates.

- In an episode of the podcast You Might Know Her From, hosted by comedians Anne Rodeman and Damian Bellino, Filipino singer and actress Lea Salonga revealed that she was contacted to be a guest judge for the season. However, because of her role as Elodie Honrada in the show Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, which was filming in New York at the time, she was unable to fly to the Philippines while Season 1 was being filmed.[13]
