Drag Race Sverige, also called Drag Race Sweden[4] depending on location, was officially announced on April 5, 2022 by Drag Race producers Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato via a press release.[3][5]
On September 6, 2022, Swedish drag artist, actor and playwright Robert Fux was announced as host of the show by Entertainment Weekly.[2]

The focus of the series is footage of the queens' conversations while backstage in Drugstugan during the judges' deliberations. Sometimes there is also bonus footage from the workroom or runway.
