El Salseo is a companion web series for La Más Draga that initially centered on showing the contestants' conversations while backstage during the judges' post-critique deliberations. The series began with Season 3 and is similar to what RuPaul's Drag Race Untucked is for RuPaul's Drag Race.

Starting with the second episode of the third season (corresponding to the fifth season of the main series), the format of the show was changed to instead showcase the contestants at the end of the episode, waiting for the winner of the lip sync to join them.

About the Show[]

  • On the first season of the show (corresponding to Season 3 of La Más Draga), the contestants got to hang out in front of a food truck-like set sponsored by diners chain Papa Guapa along with the coaches and models of the show.

  • On the second season of the show (corresponding to Season 4 of La Más Draga), the set was reduced to a small space backstage adorned with piñatas, a neon sign, a small bar and several chairs for the contestants to sit and chat. This season notably introduced Gvajardo as a main host for the show, who would sometimes be accompanied or filled in by Alexis 3XL or other special guests like Rudy Reyes and Alfonso Waithsman. This season was sponsored by Otro Trago.

  • On the third season of the show (corresponding to Season 5 of La Más Draga), the set remained in a small space backstage, although it was given a complete redesign. The set now features brightly colored walls and floors, multiple neon lights and signs, a small bar, a couple of parasols and several chairs for the contestants to sit and chat. It's worth noting that this season returned to the original format, featuring no dedicated host. The sponsors for this season were Dos Equis and El Corazón del Mar.

  • On the fourth season of the show (corresponding to Season 6 of La Más Draga), there was a notable shift in the set's design towards a more minimalist aesthetic. The set was predominantly fuchsia in color and featured minimal decorations, with the only notable items being two sizeable colorful piñatas hanging from the ceiling. Additionally, this season was once again sponsored by Otro Trago, and a small bar was incorporated into the center of the set, along with the sponsor's logo displayed prominently at the top.

    Trivia[]

    • The show was originally going to be named La Desmontada, which would be a translation of Untucked, the show it was inspired from. The new name was coined by Madison and Mista Boo, who created their own jingle for the show and started singing it during the episodes.[1]
    • Eliminated contestants are commonly seen in the background, especially in Season 2, serving drinks to the remaining contestants or sometimes even participating in the main discussion.
    • The judges' deliberation for La Más Antojable, which was cut from the original episode, was instead shown at the beginning of the corresponding El Salseo episode for unknown reasons.
    • Even before the format change in Season 3, there had already been one instance of El Salseo being filmed after the lip sync and elimination instead of during the judges' deliberations:
      • This happened on the fifth episode of the first season (La Más Famosa), with the contestants commenting about the double elimination that had just happened between Aviesc Who? and Wynter.
    • The tenth episode of the fifth season, La Más Monja Coronada, became the first competitive episode to not have a corresponding episode of El Salseo since the introduction of the series back in La Más Draga (Season 3).
      • The producers have disclosed that they did not film this episode of El Salseo due to it being the second-to-last day of filming and the cast was too fatigued and exhausted by that point.[2]
    • Just as its corresponding season, the fourth season of the show became the first to be uploaded in 4K resolution. The same thing happened with El Velatorio and Tú Las Traes.
