"When I started doing drag five years ago, I wanted a name that was cheeky but also reflected my British Vietnamese heritage, so I browsed the internet and came across a meme about an American news report which turned out to be a prank. It was about a missing Asian plane and all the names of the missing crew were plays on Chinese names, such as Sum Ting Wong and Wi Tu Lo, and another was Ho Lee Fuk. Sum Ting is the first Drag Race UK contestant to win a lip-sync against a contestant who already won a lip-sync. She sent home her friend Vinegar Strokes on Episode 3, who sent home Gothy Kendoll on Episode 1.
As stated on the show, Sum Ting's parents did not know she did drag when she auditioned for Drag Race UK. However, according to a social media post, they now support her drag career fully.[citation needed]
Had Sum Ting made it to the Makeover Challenge, her brother would have been her partner.[citation needed]
Sum Ting is the first queen in Drag Race Herstory to play a cisgender man in Snatch Game (David Attenborough) and be eliminated in the challenge.
Sum Ting is best friends with Tia Kofi, and both queens started drag at the same time at the same venue.
