Lawrence Chaney is a Scottish drag performer and the winner of Season 2 of RuPaul's Drag Race UK.

On April 3, 2024, Lawrence was announced as one of eight queens to appear in RuPaul's Drag Race Live Untucked.

Drag Name Origin

In an interview conducted by METRO, Lawrence explained the origin of their Drag name. "Lawrence" comes from their real name. "Chaney" was inspired by 1920s prolific silent movie star, "Lon Chaney". Lawrence explained "He was known as the man of a thousand faces and I’m known as the queen of a thousand faces, because I’m good at impersonation, stupid voices and general buffoonery."

  • Lawrence had been doing drag for six years before making it onto the show.
  • Lawrence aims to be the "next Lily Savage".[3]
  • Lawrence is a big fan of Irn-Bru, a popular Scottish carbonated beverage.[4]
    • As of the 7th of December 2021, Lawrence became a representative for Irn-Bru as "Scotland's Fairy Godmaw". [5]
  • Lawrence's favourite colour is purple, as it reminds them of a chocolate bar.
    • Coincidentally, Lawrence was able to get the colour purple out of all the colours of the Progress Pride flag, for their promo look.
  • Lawrence considers their drag to be a combination of Susan Boyle and Rab C. Nesbitt, and their character is inspired by Lady Gaga, Yootha Joyce, and Michelle MacManus.
  • In the second episode's Mini Challenge, Lawrence won the title of "Leader of the House of Lording It Up", meaning their fellow castmates believed them to be the cockiest queen.
    • The title is a pun on the actual UK government position, the Leader of the House of Lords.
  • Lawrence is the first RuPaul's Drag Race UK contestant to win three challenges in a row.
    • They are the second contestant on Drag Race UK to win two consecutive challenges, after Baga Chipz in Series 1.
      • They are also tied with Baga Chipz as the earliest queen to win three challenges on Drag Race UK, each earning their third win by their fifth episode competing.
