HoSo Terra Toma (KO: 호소테라토마) is a Korean drag performer and one of the contestants of the fourth season of The Boulet Brothers' Dragula. She finished as a runner-up alongside Saint, and Sigourney Beaver.

She later appeared on the first season of The Boulet Brothers' Dragula: Titans, returning to fight for the title of the first Titan. She placed as a runner-up once again, this time alongside Koco Caine.

Drag Name Origin[]

As she explained in the Meet Our Monster introduction video, "HoSo" is the shortened version of the word for "little faggot" in Korean (Homo So-Nyeon; KO: 호모 소년). "Terra Toma" is a play on the word teratoma, a type of tumor that may contain several different types of bodily tissue (i.e. teeth, hair, eyes, fingernails, etc.), which she used as a reclamation of her chemotherapy experience to treat her lymphoma.[7]

Trivia[]

  • HoSo initially defined herself as a "drag yokai" (a supernatural being).[5] By Dragula Titans, she began identifying as a "drag kaiju" (a monster).[8] Currently she defines herself, per her bio on instagram, as an “ōmukade princess.”
    • Yokai (妖怪/요괴) is a term used to encompass a wide range of supernatural beings in Asian folklore.[9]
    • Kaiju (怪獣/괴수) literally means "monster" and was initially used to refer to monsters in Japanese folklore, but is mostly used to refer to giant monsters in Japanese cinema.
    • Ōmukade (大 百足/대백족) is a yokai from Asian folklore said to be a giant centipede like creature.
    • HoSo had combined many Korean/Asian cultural references on her costumes, such as traditional masks (탈) and the costume of Korean shaman (무당) for the Killer Clown floorshow, a Water God Yokai for the Ghostship Glamour theme, writing a Korean swear word "씨발" ("fuck" in Korean) on her face for the Monster of Rock look, or using Hwang Jini (황진이) - an exceptionally beautiful and free-spirited courtesan who lived in Korea during the 16th century, as a reference for her Finale Glamour look. HoSo also gave further details of her looks on her twitter account.
  • At 19 years old at the time of filming season 4, HoSo is the youngest contestant to ever be on Dragula.
  • HoSo is the second contestant on Dragula to not be from the United States after Yovska.
    • she is also the first contestant from outside of North America, hailing from Haebongchon, Seoul in South Korea.[5]
  • HoSo is the first contestant on Dragula to place as a Runner-up twice.
    • On both occasions the Winners are returning monsters from Season 2.
    • HoSo is the only returning monster on Titans Season 1 who was never exterminated on their original season.
    • HoSo is currently the only monster who appears on multiple seasons without being exterminated.
  • HoSo and Victoria Black are the first two monsters to reach the finale in two different seasons.
  • HoSo suffered from lymphoma and had to get cured through chemotherapy.[10]
    • HoSo represented her experience as a cancer survivor in her Horror floorshow at the finale.
  • In the "Meet Our Monsters" she stated she started doing drag after watching the first season of DRAGULA. On an IG Live, she stated she specifically started in 2017.[11]
    • She mentions Abhora as being one of her main inspirations when starting drag.[citation needed]
  • HoSo has a drag daughter named Rina MorningStar. [12]
  • On Season 4, HoSo is the last person in the Top 5 to win their Main Challenge, but is the first contestant to achieve multiple wins, and the only one to win consecutively.
    • she is also one of the only two contestants to win two maxi challenges, the other being Dahli.
  • On Season 4, HoSo was criticized for not showing "glamour" enough in the Glamour Ghostship floorshow. In the Cauldron, HoSo defended the glamour aspect of her choice. However, it turned out that when HoSo participated in a lie detection on Titans Season 1, after responding "yes" to the question "Do you think your ghostship glamour was glamour?", her test result was announced "deception".
  • Despite being the first outfit that made HoSo win, her Hairy Monsters look was troublesome on set due to the size and weight of the outfit. HoSo needed many crew members to help her during the preparation, and she could not fit herself into the booth for the weekly photoshoot. After the floorshow, HoSo ended up throwing away the outfit.[13]
