Isabella y Catalina, also referred to as Isabella & Catalina or just Isa & Cata, are American twins, drag performers and contestants on Season 5 of the YouTube show La Más Draga.

Drag Name Origin

Inspired by Mexican actresses such as María Félix, the twins knew that they wanted hispanic names that sounded strong, elegant and classy. However, they didn't want to simply use the names of celebrities and wished to come up with something original.[5]

Isabella came up with her name first, with it being the name she would give to her daughter. Catalina would then be given her name by her friends based on that, as they felt Isabella sounded like the name for a "good twin", meaning she needed a name to represent the "evil twin".[6]

Trivia

  • Isabella and Catalina were two of the secret contestants of La Más Draga 5, along with Light King and Paper Cut, meaning they did not need to participate in the live auditions in order to be cast. In the case of Light King and Isabella y Catalina, they got cast based on their audition tapes.[7]
    • They revealed to have filmed, edited and sent their audition tape on the very last day before casting closed.[6]
    • Already knowing they were part of the cast, the twins watched the broadcast of the live auditions with the added objective of assessing the possible competition.[7]
  • Isabella and Catalina are the first pair of biological siblings to compete on La Más Draga.
  • They are also the first contestants from La Más Draga to be based in the United States.
  • Between all their looks for the season, the twins spent over MXN $300,000 (USD $15,000).[6]
  • They are the second duo to compete on La Más Draga, after Red Rabbit Duo.
    • Coincidentally, both duos shared very similar runs on the show, having the same placements on the four episodes each of them competed. The only exception was on Episode 2, where Red Rabbit Duo won the challenge, while the twins were just on the top.
    • Additionally, both duos were eliminated on Episode 4, which involved a Design Challenge.
  • Despite competing on the show as a duo, they have always considered themselves as separate drag performers. Hence, the lack of a team name.[6]
  • Also being from San Diego, the twins regularly peform in the same venues as Chad Michaels.[6]
  • They are the first duo to lip sync together against their opponent, as Red Rabbit Duo were forced to choose who would lip sync between the two against Job Star and Gvajardo.
    • Aware that something similar could happen to them, the twins decided to each learn and prepare for half of the lip sync songs.[8]
    • In the case of Estilazo, the song they were eliminated with, Isabella was the one prepared to lip sync. They weren't informed that they would be performing together until right before the lip sync, meaning that Catalina had just a few minutes to learn the song and prepare some choreography with her sister.[8]
  • Isabella and Catalina were the fifth contestants on La Más Draga to replace another one in the bottom after Alexis 3XL, Huntyy B, Leexa Fox and Aisha Dollkills. They replaced Huma Kyle on La Más Recursiva after she used her immunity capsule to save herself.
    • While Huma was given the opportunity to send any of her fellow contestants to the lip sync in her place, she ultimately chose the twins due to them having the lowest score after hers and Liza's.
  • Isabella and Catalina had originally planned to do Elisa Esposito and the Amphibian Man from the 2017 film The Shape of Water for La Más del Toro, with them having both looks almost fully completed before filming began. However, they wanted to add some final details to the look of the Amphibian Man and sent it to an artist, who would end up never delivering it back.[9]
    • Isabella commented a day after the airing of La Más del Toro, several months after they first contacted the artist, that they still hadn't received the look nor their money back.[9]
    • The final looks that they presented on the runway were assembled just a few days before they had to fly to Mexico in order to began filming.[9]
