Unlike RuPaul's Drag Race, each season of Canada's Drag Race features at least three joint hosts/main judges (the first season had Brooke Lynn Hytes, Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman and Stacey McKenzie). On the first season, Traci Melchor was an honorary member of the judges panel, with the honorary title of "Canada's Squirrel Friend". Additionally, each episode has guest hosts (usually two) who only appear in that episode. The guest host takes up the role of host only for one episode, presenting the runway theme, the queens' names on the runway, and telling them to lip sync for their lives.
On March 23rd, 2021, Brooke Lynn and Stacey confirmed their return to Drag Race in a video on X. In the same video, the duo revealed that due to scheduling conflicts, Jeffrey would not be returning to Canada's Drag Race. To that date it was unknown if he would be replaced and if Traci Melchor would be returning to the show.
On June 28th, 2021, Canada's Drag Race announced on Instagram that Stacey would not be returning for Season 2 due to COVID related challenges, and that new judges would be announced soon.
The following day, the new judges panel was announced: Traci Melchor would be returning as a rotating judge along with actress Amanda Brugel, who was a guest host on Season 1. Brad Goreski was also announces as a permanent judge on this season and would be appearing each episode.
Brooke Lynn, Brad and Traci returned as main judges for the third season while Amanda left the series, with Traci appearing in every episode rather than rotating with another judge.
