Kelly Mantle is an American actor, singer, stage performer, and drag performer. She is well known for being a contestant on Season 6 of RuPaul's Drag Race. Kelly is originally from Oklahoma. She has appeared on many blink-and-you'll-miss-it roles in television. She is openly bisexual, and describes herself as a "lesbian transgendered gay woman".
Considered a likely front-runner by commentators, Kelly's elimination in episode one of Season 6 was seen as shocking by many fans. Along with Tempest DuJour and Jaymes Mansfield, Kelly is seen by many as one of the strongest "first outs" in Drag Race herstory.
Unlike most drag queens, Kelly Mantle goes by her given name. Since Kelly is an actor, like fellow Drag Race alumni Willam Belli, Kelly chose to go by her given name to make it easier for producers and casting directors to look her up.
RuPaul's Drag Race
Before the season premiered, Kelly was predicted to be a front runner of Season 6. Kelly appeared with the first group of 7 contestants to compete on the season. She is one of the few experienced queens of her group, alongside BenDeLaCreme and Vivacious.
For her first main challenge, she was tasked with creating an outfit themed to the television show "Downton Abby" out of supplies from a box. During her runway critique, she was criticized by Michelle Visage for wearing "bacon" on her dress, which were actually large flower petals. Although fellow contestant Adore Delano was considered to have the worst outfit for that episode, she was spared from elimination.
Kelly Mantle lip-synced for her life against Vivacious to Madonna's "Express Yourself" instead. Kelly became the first contestant to be eliminated from Season 6, commenting that she didn't understand why the judges were not hungry for her bacon.
She, along with the other queens of her season covered RuPaul's songs in the album RuPaul Presents: The CoverGurlz." On the album, she covered Main Event.
