The sixth season of La Más Draga, also known as El Sexto Sentido, was officially announced on January 24, 2023 through the show's official accounts. A casting announcement video was released, where the winner of the previous season, Fifí Estah, gave instructions on how to audition.[1]

Similarly to previous seasons, twenty-four contestants from the audition tapes were selected and asked to perform in a live audition. However, one contestant was singled out and confirmed to be cast even before the live auditions: Aries.[2]

The live auditions were broadcast on March 14, 2023, with Cattriona announced as the second member of the cast at the end of the broadcast. A few days later, Ank Cosart and Juana Guadalupe were confirmed to be joining the cast as well.[3]

On August 29, 2023, the first promotional video for the season was released, revealing that the season would premiere on September 12, 2023. The promotional video also confirmed Mexican actress Marisol González as the new host for the season, as well as the inclusion of Alexis 3XL, who would be replacing Rogelio Suárez.[4]

At the end of the twelfth episode, Cattriona was crowned as the winner, with Juana Guadalupe placing as the runner-up and La Kyliezz being crowned as the Miss Congeniality (La Más Querida) of the season.

Enalteciendo nuestra hermosa cultura con talento y mucho brilloteo. En este primer episodio conoceremos a nuestras nuevas feminosas que competirán a lo largo de esta 6ta. Temporada, enfrentando nuevos retos para lograr ser la más feminosa, la más fabulosa, la más glamurosa, la más 360, simplemente LA MÁS DRAGA de Todo México y Latinoamérica.[5]

Trivia

  • The total amount of auditions received for the season was 1,671.[2]
  • Following the positive reception that she had as a guest judge in the previous season, actress Natalia Téllez was contacted in order to become the host of this one. However, she was unable to accept the offer due to scheduling conflicts.[8]
  • As shown on exclusive behind-the-scenes footage, filming for the season began on May 28, 2023.[9]
  • It has been noted that the promotional material for the season prominently features an Hecho en México stamp. Although not officially confirmed, there is a widely circulated theory that suggests this may be a deliberate reference and criticism towards Drag Race México, which was produced in Colombia by a predominantly non-Mexican crew.[10]
  • Calypso, Morfina and Sofía Camará are all featured at the beginning of the first episode during the montage showcasing some audition tapes submitted for the season.[5]
  • According to Braulio 8000 and Liza Zan Zuzzi, the contract for this season included a clause that prohibited the contestants from quitting the competition. This was likely done in order to avoid what happened on the previous season, where an unprecedented number of contestants decided to quit.[11]
  • It has been confirmed by the producers that the release date of the season had to be pushed forward twice, mostly based on the date the finale would end up taking place.[12]
    • The original release date was September 26, 2023, in accordance to the previous season. However, they soon realized this would mean that the finale would be on December 12, the Feast Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe in Mexico, resulting in severe logistical issues for the event.[12]
    • For that, the release date was pushed forward one week to September 19, but the producers were not able to find a single venue to host the finale on December 5. As shown on Detrás de La Más, they were still planning on using these dates by the time filming concluded.[13]
    • Ultimately, they were in contact with a friend from Pepsi Center WTC, the venue where the finale of La Más Draga (Season 4) was held, who informed them that he could pull a few strings to find them a slot on November 28. They accepted and the release date was then moved accordingly to September 12.[12]
  • The tenth episode of the season was dedicated in memory of non-binary activist and electoral magistrate of Aguascalientes, Jesús Ociel Baena Saucedo and to their partner, Dorian Daniel Nieves Herrera. Both of them were found dead at their home the day prior to the release of the episode.[14]
  • This is the first season of La Más Draga...
    • ... to feature contestants from Argentina and Venezuela, Ank Cosart and Dimittra, respectively.
    • ... with no secret contestants since their introduction back in La Más Draga (Season 2).
    • ... without a single contestant from Mexico City. While some contestants were born there (like Braulio 8000) and others currently live in there (like Kelly), none of them had Mexico City listed as their official main location for the season.
      • Therefore, this is also the first season where the contestant who placed last is not from Mexico City, ultimately breaking the Mexico City curse that began since the first season.
      • Aries did mention during the first episode that she also wanted to represent Mexico City, having lived in there for over 12 years. Her confessional name tag does reflect this, though her main location is still listed as Morelia, Michoacán.[5]
    • ... to include a penalty for performing poorly in a mini-challenge, with the contestant deemed to have performed the worst being sent directly to the bottom two of the episode.
    • ... to be uploaded in 4K resolution.
      • The spin-off show Soy Veneno, released on April 2023, was also uploaded in 4K resolution almost entirely, hinting that all future projects related to La Más Draga were to have this resolution from now on.
    • ... to have two contestants share the last place.
    • ... to not launch a new companion program since their introduction back in La Más Draga (Season 2).
    • ... to feature a shared win between three contestants, which happened on Episode 4 with Ariel, Aries and Cattriona.
    • ... with two contestants having more than two challenge wins, Aries and Juana Guadalupe.
      • This is also the first season where every finalist had more than one challenge win.
    • ... with more than five runway challenges.
    • ... without a challenge that features past contestants of the show.
  • Thirteen contestants of the season are or were drag-related to other La Más Draga alumni, making it the cast with the most relations. The only contestant this season without one known relation is Aries.
