La Más Orgullosa is an annual drag festival organized by the producers of La Más Draga that is held in June in order to coincide with and celebrate Pride Month. The event features numerous performances from competitors and crew members of the show, as well as from other important personalities within the LGBT+ scene of the country.[1]

Editions[]

The first edition of La Más Orgullosa was announced on April 2, 2022 through the official accounts of La Más Draga, with the event being promoted as a festival held on June 24, 2022 in order to celebrate pride month. Additionally, the first two performers of the event were revealed: the most recent winner at the time, Rebel Mörk, along with singer and influencer, Manelyk.[2]

Throughout the next couple of weeks, the rest of the lineup was unveiled in batches of two, having their originally shadowed image being revealed on the full poster. The lineup ended up consisting of every past winner and host of the show, several past alumni from all seasons and other known LGBT+ personalities from the country. Canceled Performances[]

Drag Performer Reason
Elektra Vandergeld
  • Without being given any explanation, Elektra was told by the producers of the event that her participation was canceled.[3]
  • After being asked about this through a private message, the official Facebook account of La Más Draga responded that Elektra was removed simply due to her not delivering the necessary material for her performance in time.[4]
La Carrera
  • Dealing with a case of the flu, La Carrera decided to instead stay at her home.[5]
Margaret Y Ya
  • It was revealed that Margaret was already signed in with another sponsor company of the pride events, which prohibited her from performing in La Más Orgullosa.[6]

The second edition of La Más Orgullosa was announced on April 5, 2023 through the official accounts of La Más Draga, with the event being held on June 23, 2023. Unlike the previous year, half of the lineup was revealed since the initial announcement, with newcomers from La Más Draga Season 5, Maca Carriedo and Raquel Martínez, joining several past alumni of the show.[7]

The second batch of the lineup was unveiled on April 23, 2023, with Mexican artist Fey being announced as one of the headliners of the event. A third and final batch was disclosed on May 23, 2023, with the full poster for the event being uncovered. The event ended up being hosted by Gvajardo and Soro Nasty and featured several surprise performers.[8][9]

Similarly to the previous year, half of the lineup was revealed since the initial announcement, with all eight contestants from La Más Draga: Solo Las Más Season 1 headlining the event alongside the past winners of the franchise.[10]

On June 7, 2024, for the first time in the history of the event, a second date was announced due to popular demand: June 29, 2024. While relatively sharing a very similar lineup, this date featured a few different drag performers.[11]

Canceled Performances[]

Drag Performer Date Reason
Alexis Mvgler June 28, 2024
  • Despite being announced on the flyer, the staff at the venue informed her that they were not aware of her participation and thus, did not set up the sound and visuals for her performance.[12]
Rebel Mörk June 28, 2024
  • Rebel encountered several problems with her flight to Mexico City. She was first informed that it had been delayed, and later she was told she actually had missed it. Ultimately, the airline couldn't resolve the issue in time, forcing Rebel to cancel her participation.[13]

Trivia[]

  • Unlike the year before, the producers decided to live-stream the 2023 edition of the event on the official YouTube channel of La Más Draga, although exclusively for members of the channel. However, immediately after the stream ended, the video was blocked in several countries, including Mexico, due to copyright claims.[14]
    • The producers announced the day after that they were working on appealing the claim and that it originated from just one performance, although they did not name the performer.[14]
    • The stream was reinstated just a few days later, with a short segment from Peke Balderas' performance being silenced. The segment in question originally featured the song Vogue by Madonna, which led to the copyright claim.[15]
  • Currently, a total of eleven drag performers have been featured in the main lineup of all the editions of the event: Alexis 3XL, Aviesc Who?, C-Pher, Deborah La Grande, Georgiana, Gvajardo, Letal, Madison Basrey, Paper Cut, Rudy Reyes and Sirena.
  • Velvetine is the first, and currently only, drag performer to be part of the main lineup of this event and later be cast on a season of La Más Draga.
