Prior to appearing as Icesis Couture's makeover partner on season 2 of Canada's Drag Race, she had already been known in Toronto as Makayla Walker Louboutin, since she is part of the Canadian ballroom scene under the House of Louboutin. She chose the name "Ruby" during Season 2's makeover challenge as it represents being red hot, which was a complete opposite of Icesis' signature brand of being icy. After the season aired, Makayla chose to keep her original drag first name as, to her, it represented strength, power, beauty, and grace. She has since, however, kept Icesis' drag surname.[6]
