Monica Beverly Hillz is an American contestant from the fifth season of RuPaul's Drag Race. She placed 12th on the show.
Monica would later return to compete on the eighth season of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars, where she also placed 12th.
Drag Name Origin[]
She started as Monica Beverly. Monica was the name of an Indian goddess in a Bollywood movie that she loved. Beverly came to the movie Pretty Woman as she always had a fascination with Hollywood and wanted to live in Beverly Hills. When she moved to Kentucky. she decided to add the Hills and changed the 's' to a 'z' because she's Latin and she had to have some spice in it.[citation needed]

- Monica is the first Drag Race contestant to ever come out as transgender while filming of her season was ongoing.
- Other contestants such as Kylie Sonique Love, Carmen Carrera, Stacy Layne Matthews, Kenya Michaels, Jiggly Caliente, Lashauwn Beyond, and Gia Gunn, among others all announced their transition after the show wrapped.
- Peppermint, Kerri Colby, and Sasha Colby, however, entered as openly transgender women. Meanwhile, Gottmik entered as an openly transgender man.
- Monica would later be followed by Jasmine Kennedie on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 14.
- Monica was supposedly blacklisted by World of Wonder for allegedly making negative comments towards RuPaul around the same time when Pearl was permanently banned from appearing on All Stars.[4]
- Monica is the only contestant from RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Season 8 to not be in attendance of DragCon LA 2023.[5]
- Monica is the third first-out All Star who originally competed in RuPaul's Drag Race Season 5: the first was Coco Montrese on RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Season 2, followed by Serena ChaCha on RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Season 6.
