The first season of Mudrakels was officially announced by Ride or Die Studios on October 3, 2022, with Lady Gagita being announced as the show's host.[2]
Casting for aspiring drag artists and for drag mothers opened on October 7, 2022[3], and closed on October 17, 2022.[4]
On January 31, 2023, Ride or Die Studios revealed the eight Mudras that would appear on the show, and announced that the show would start airing on Feel Good Studios' YouTube channel beginning February 17, 2023.[5] Two days later, on February 2, 2023, the eight Nakshies were revealed.[6] Cast promos of both the drag mother and her respective drag child were revealed daily from February 3, 2023 to February 10, 2023.
On February 15, 2023, the show announced that the first two episodes of the season would be aired back-to-back to allow the public to understand the show's format.[7]
The winners of the season were Mrs. Tan, who was crowned as the first Queen Mudra, and her drag child Savvy Tan, who was crowned as Anak ng Mudra. Meanwhile, Gorgeous Dawn and her drag child Emily Chon, Lady Morgana and her drag child Sundae Perez, and Pura Luka Vega and her drag child Dolores were runners-up.

- Mudrakels is one of three Filipino drag competitions, after Drag Race Philippines and Drag Den.
- However, it is the only show from the three to air on YouTube.
- The show's name is a reference to how the word "mother" is translated in Swardspeak.
- Episodes 9 and 10 were slated to air back-to-back on April 14, 2023 due to the preceding Friday commemorating Good Friday.
- However, due to unknown reasons, only the ninth episode was released on the aforementioned day, with the latter episode being released the next day.
- Mudrakels is the first drag competition outside the Drag Race franchise to feature a spoken word lip-sync.
