Season 1 of Non Sono Una Signora[8] was officially announced by Herald Adolfs on January 26, 2022.[9] It is a Italian drag competition based on the Dutch competition reality show, Make Up Your Mind.
The season was initially set to premiere on November 7, 2022,[8] but was then postponed by exactly one month to December 7, 2022,[10] then again to February 2023,[11] and then again to May 16, 2023, but this air date had also fallen victim to delay.[12] On May 16, 2023, a new premiere date of June 29, 2023 was revealed.[3]
Official sources say the season was postponed again from May 16 due to Inter-Milan's soccer match in the Champions Leage semifinal, though anonymous sources claim that politics play a part in the show's constant postponing, with some conservative right-wing parties (of which the Italian prime minister Giorgia Meloni is a major exponent) allegedly pushing against the show's airing.[13] Judge Vanessa van Cartier has openly spoken out against the way the show is being treated by Rai.[14][15][16]
The show featured Alba Parietti as the host, Elecktra Bionic, Maruska Starr and Vanessa van Cartier as judges and Cristina D'Avena, Filippo Magnini, Mara Maionchi and Sabrina Salerno as panelists. La B. Fujiko (a.k.a. Barbara Pedrazzi) was also featured during the season as a vedette or showgirl-style figure bringing in the lipsticks used for eliminations and other minor appearances.
The winners of the season were the duo The Nancies (Gigi e Ross), with She Funk (Andreas Müller) placing as runner-up.

La prima serata del lunedì di Rai 2 si arricchisce di una novità assoluta, portando nelle case degli italiani una delle forme espressive che in questi anni ha conquistato il pubblico di tutto il mondo. In ogni puntata si sfideranno in spettacolari performance che ne decreteranno il vincitore. A giudicarli ci sarà un gruppo di Drag professioniste, mentre un panel di opinionisti proverà a indovinare chi è il personaggio che si esibisce nei panni di una Drag Queen. La Drag vincitrice di ogni puntata arriverà direttamente alla finale, mentre alle altre non resterà che svelarsi e raccontare il proprio percorso di trasformazione. Una grande serata di spettacolo e di inclusività.
Volti conosciuti dal pubblico si rendono irriconoscibili e si calano nei panni di splendide Drag, sfidandosi in spettacolari performances. A giudicarli ed a decretare il vincitore, 3 Drag Queen professioniste.
