Obama The Queen,[1] or simply Obama, is an Italian drag performer and one of the contestants of the second season of Drag Race Italia.

Drag Name Origin[]

Obama started performing as a drag queen in the early 2000s, with the name Naomo. The name Obama was chosen in 2009 as a tribute to former president of the United States Barack Obama, who won the elections of the country's presidency that same year.[3]

  • Obama was born from Senegalese parents and was later adopted by Italian parents.[1]
  • Obama, out of drag as Baye Dame Dia, appeared on Season 15 of Grande Fratello (the Italian version of Big Brother).[1]
    • Baye was ejected from the House on Day 14 after threatening violence against and bullying Aida Nizar, one of his fellow Housemates at the time, over tiramisu.[4]
  • Obama's entrance line references a quote from La Karl du Pignè ("Bella ce sarai te, io so' favolosa"), one of the pioneering drag artists in Italy up until her death in 2018.
