The second season of Queen of the Universe was officially announced on February 15, 2022.[2]
On February 22, 2023, the cast of Season 2 was officially announced, featuring 10 contestants from 9 different countries. An initial release date of March 31, 2023 was also announced at this date.
On March 13, 2023, however, World of Wonder announced that the second season's premiere has been pushed back to June 2, 2023.[3]
On June 22, 2023, Taiga Brava was crowned the Queen of the Universe, while Trevor Ashley placed as a runner-up.
After Paramount+ released the latter half of the second season simultaneously during the aforementioned date, the streaming platform announced the show's cancellation in exchange for a tax write-off, as well as in preparation for the platform to begin streaming content from Showtime.[4]

- Even though she doesn't sing, La Kahena from the first season of Drag Race France was asked to audition for this season of Queen of the Universe.[18]
- Season 2 is the second season of Queen of the Universe to feature two Drag Race alum: Aura Eternal from the second season of Drag Race Italia and Love Masisi from the second season of Drag Race Holland, after Season 1, which featured Jujubee from RuPaul's Drag Race, RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars, and the first season of UK vs The World, and Leona Winter from the the second season of The Switch Drag Race.
- Season 2 has produced a total of two contestants to later appear on a season of Drag Race:
- Taiga Brava, who took over as the co-host of Season 2 of Drag Race México, replacing Valentina.
- Maxie who competed on Season 3 of Drag Race Philippines. Maxie went on to win the season.
