The twelfth season of RuPaul's Drag Race was announced January, 22nd, 2019. Casting opened that same day with a submission deadline of March 1st and later it was announced that thirteen queens will compete for the crown this season. Filming began in late July 2019 and the cast was officially revealed on January 23rd, 2020 on Twitter with current reigning Yvie Oddly as the host.
The season 12 queen crowned "America's Next Drag Superstar" was TBA, while TBA was awarded the title of Miss Congeniality by her fellow cast-mates.
