The renewal of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars for Season 4 was officially announced on August 22, 2018, on social media. The official cast was announced was on November 9th, 2018, along with the season premiere date of December 14, 2018.
A RuVealed Special entitled Trixie's Playhouse, featuring Trixie Mattel, Katya, and Detox, was set to air November 8, 2018, to announce the cast of this season on VH1's YouTube Channel, as well as Drag Race's X & Facebook. However, due to the shooting at Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks, California, the RuVeal was postponed to Friday, November 9, 2018.[1]
All Stars 4's promo theme was 'Icy Iridescence'. Promos were released on November 9th, 2018 accompanying Trixie's Playhouse. It is currently available to watch on VH1's YouTube channel. For the first time, there were two winners of a single season. The winners of this All Stars season were Monét X Change and Trinity The Tuck. Both winners received their own set of Fierce Drag Jewels crown and sceptre, a year supply of Anastasia Beverly Hills Cosmetics, and $100,000 each.

- This season's featured RuPaul promo look was not originally shot for the season. The photo is an edited version of the original to fit the iridescent theme.
- This season has suffered from several leaks:
- The subtitles for the first episode were downloaded from WowPresents+ servers and leaked before the episode aired.
- The third episode was leaked a few hours after episode two aired on TV due to it being added to WowPresents+ by accident. It was removed hours later.
- Part of Episode 5's Maxi Challenge was mistakenly uploaded to Comedy Central UK Youtube channel a week before its airdate.
- The entire elimination order was correctly leaked on Reddit.
- A portion of the final episode of The Pit Stop was leaked, revealing the winners of the season hours before the finale aired.
- Stacy Layne Matthews joined this season as a special guest on the second episode, and as an extra on the fourth and fifth episode.
- The Top 4 All Stars of the season were the first 4 queens to enter the workroom this season.
- The queens that placed safe in the first episode were called forward by RuPaul in order of their placements.
- The only episode that neither of the Winners of the season were in the Top 2, and received negative critiques, was Episode 4.
- Valentina was prematurely confirmed to be on the season by a reporter for the live musical Rent, in which she starred.[3]
- The episode "Super Queen Grand Finale" by far, the lowest-rated episode on IMDB with a 2.2/10.
- This record would be broken 5 years later with the fifth episode of RuPaul's Drag Race Global All Stars Season 1, which had a 2.1/10.[4]
- After the episode aired, WOW Presents posted a picture on their Instagram of Monét X Change being the only winner of the season. It was taken down seconds later.
- As of July 5th, 2019, six members of the cast has over 1 million followers on Instagram (Farrah Moan, Manila Luzon, Monét X Change, Naomi Smalls, Trinity the Tuck, and Valentina), and therefore makes this one of two seasons with the most queens in its cast to have over 1 million followers (alongside All Stars 2).
- All Stars 4 is the second season to air across two years (December 2018-February 2019), the first season was The Switch Drag Race (Season 1)
