Silvana Della Magliana is an Italian drag performer and one of the contestants of the third season of Drag Race Italia.

Drag Name Origin[]

"Silvana" comes from Italian actress Silvana Pampanini. She chose "Magliana" as last name because it rhymes with "Silvana", but mostly because one of her favorite novels is Romanzo Criminale, which is in turn inspired by the criminal organization Banda della Magliana.[3]

Trivia[]

  • She started doing drag in 2010 while studying acting and voice acting. She was attending a party with friends when she put on an impromptu drag show in the worst possible way.[3]
  • Her catchphrase, "Hasta Magliana!" is a pun combining the Spanish phrase "hasta mañana", meaning "see you tomorrow", and her own name.
  • Her entrance quote parodies a speech made in 2019 by the Italian far-right politician and current Prime Minister of Italy Giorgia Meloni who, when speaking against the LGBTQ+ community and their "agenda", [in]famously said "Io sono Giorgia, sono una donna, sono una madre, sono italiana, sono cristiana. Non me lo toglierete!" (the speech, which became a viral meme in 2019, can be watched here). Silvana's line also subtly references Giorgia Meloni when she says "Non mangio meloni, ma solo banana.".
  • Silvana, along with the cast of Drag Race Italia season 3, Elecktra Bionic and La Diamond, are scheduled to be an opening act for Werq the World in Milan.[4]
