The first season of Soy Veneno was announced on March 14, 2023 during the live auditions for La Más Draga Season 6, with casting opening the following day. Alexis 3XL was confirmed to be hosting the show as well.[1]

Despite the fact that it was originally stated that casting would close on April 7, 2023, the original twenty-four selected contestants were instead revealed on April 4 during an episode of El Chismecito with Alexis 3XL. Additionally, it was announced that the show would consist of six episodes, all transmitted exclusively for members of the official YouTube channel of La Más Draga.[2]

On April 22, 2023, the first and only promotional video for the show was released, revealing that it would premiere just three days later on April 25, 2023. The promotional video also showcased the updated full cast, with several modifications having been done to it due to logistical reasons. Ultimately, the total number of contestants dropped from 24 to 18.[3]

At the end of the sixth episode, Tathan Duarte was declared the winner of the show and was awarded with a cash prize of MXN $25,000 (USD $1,408) along with the title of the newest Veneno for La Más Draga Season 6.

Additionally, having received the most votes from the audience during the broadcast of the finale, Andrés Gueda was declared the Runner-Up of the show and earned the invitation to also join Los Venenos as the newest Tóxico.

Trivia[]

  • Filming for the show began on April 17, 2023.[6]
  • The total amount of auditions received for the show was 384.[7]
  • The casting call stated that all interested auditionees needed to be over 18 years old, live in Mexico City and be part of the LGBT+ community.[8]
    • Despite there not being a gender requirement listed on the casting call, one of the producers later commented that they were only looking for males to participate on the show.[9]
      • However, it was also revealed that at least two women auditioned.[2]
  • Soy Veneno is the first...
    • ... spin-off competition of La Más Draga.
    • ... show in the franchise of La Más Draga to be uploaded in 4K resolution almost entirely. The only exception was the finale, which was broadcast live.
    • ... exclusive show in the franchise of La Más Draga, as it was initially only available for members of the official YouTube channel.
      • While the episodes where ultimately released for everyone a few months after their original release, the behind-the-scenes videos remained as exclusive content for the members.
    • ... show in the franchise of La Más Draga to feature a trans man competing, Ángel González (#9).
  • Izak Alvarado (#10) has commented that he had to remove himself from the competition due to major personal reasons that made it impossible for him to continue competing. Tathan Duarte (#16) was then brought back in his place after being eliminated the episode prior.[10]
  • Andrés Gueda (#8) and Samuel Zarazúa (#15) were originally paired up with Paper Cut and Amelia Waldorf, respectively, for their finale performances. However, scheduling conflicts rendered them both unavailable that night, which led to the Venenos being paired up with Leexa Fox and Deborah La Grande instead.[11]
  • Even though Deseos Fab and Huma Kyle were scheduled to perform at the finale, neither of them ended up being featured during the event. Huma later commented that they were not able to perform due to them arriving late to the venue and missing their time slot.[12]
  • While the first five episodes followed the standard weekly release model, the sixth and final episode was unexpectedly pushed forward and aired just two days after the previous one. This could be explained by the fact that La Más Draga (Season 6) was scheduled to start filming on May 28 and the Venenos had to be already selected by then.[13]
