Vanity Vain is a Swedish drag performer and one of the contestants of the first season of Drag Race Sverige.

On July 15, 2024, it was announced that Vanity would return to compete on the first season of RuPaul's Drag Race Global All Stars.[4]

About

Vanity Vain, from Linköping, Sweden, finished third on Drag Race Sweden. Based in Stockholm, Vanity has been doing drag for eight years and describes her aesthetic as "very rock and roll, 80s, sex on legs." Drag saved her mental health, giving her confidence and Drag Race Sweden enabled her to pursue drag full time. Vanity loves performing and singing but dreads comedy challenges. Known for her excellent makeup skills, she is ready for the competition with sharpened claws and polished shoes.

Drag Name Origin

"Vanity" is based on Christina Aguilera's song of the same title.[1]

Trivia

  • Vanity's entrance line references a popular Swedish meme video: "Kom igen nu Britt-Marie kör för fa-an!". The video features an intoxicated man in a club being interviewed on TV, sending a greeting to his mother in Linköping. Which also happens to be Vanity's hometown.
  • Vanity has watched all the US and UK seasons of Drag Race, and watched a little of Canada's Drag Race.[1]
  • Some of Vanity's favorite past Drag Race queens include Raven, Adore Delano, Monét X Change, and Katya.[1]
  • Vanity is the second queen from the Drag Race franchise to be named "Vanity", after Vanity Milan from UK Season 3 & Canada vs The World Season 1.
    • Ironically, both Vanity Vain and Vanity Milan lip-synced against and sent home a contestant named Elec(k)tra (Elecktra and Elektra Fence)
  • Vanity won the title of "Drag of the Year" at QX Gaygala 2020.[6] She was also nominated the year before and year after.
  • Vanity, Admira Thunderpussy, Fontana, and Elecktra will be the opening act for Werq the World in Stockholm.[7]
  • After winning her lip sync against Eva Le Queen, Vanity won the equivalent of her season's cash prize in one episode.[8]
  • Vanity's original "Blow Me Away" look was made of windmills but got destroyed during the flight to film Global All Stars.[9]
  • Vanity was awarded as "The LGBTQ-Person of the Year" at the 2025 QX Gala. [10]
  • In RuPaul's Drag Race Global All Stars (Season 1), in all episodes that Kitty Scott-Claus won (episodes 4, 7 and 8), Vanity Vain was in the bottom two.
    • Coincidentally, Vanity won all her lip syncs. However, she eventually lost the lip sync on episode 9 when they both landed in the bottom two.
    • This makes Vanity the fourth contestant in all of Drag Race with multiple bottom placements to only have bottom placements under one challenge winner after Brita of RuPaul's Drag Race season 12 whose three lip syncs all happened in episodes won by her competitor, Gigi Goode; Sagittaria of Drag Race Espana season 1 whose two lip syncs both happened in episodes won by her season's eventual winner, Carmen Farala; and Icesis Couture of Canada's Drag Race Season 2 whose two lip syncs both happened in episodes won by her competitor, Pythia.
