RuPaul's Drag Race Wiki

Violet Chachki is the stage name of Jason Dardo, a drag queen, performer, model, content creator, and the Season 7 winner of RuPaul's Drag Race.

After winning her season, Chachki became even more famous for touring around the world doing aerial and burlesque performances, modeling and working with Dita Von Teese, Prada, Moschino, Vogue, etc.[1]

Drag Name Origin

Violet was originally named "Blair" until she watched the 1996 movie Bound and renamed herself after the sensual dark character "Violet" (Jennifer Tilly). "Chachki" is a slang spelling of "tchotchke", a Yiddish word used to name a strictly decorative small collectible item or describe a beautiful young lady. Ironically, "Violet Chachki" can be translated to "violet-colored trinket".[1]

Drag Family

Violet has a drag family in which the most notable members are herself, her drag mothers Genre Monster and Season 8 contestant Dax ExclamationPoint, and her drag sister Brigitte Bidet.[2]

Track Record(s)

Violet Chachki
Season Competed: Season 7
Ranking: 1st Place
(Winner)
Mini Challenges Won: 1 (Ep. 10)
Main Challenges Won: 3 (Eps. 1, 10, 11)
Times Placed High 2 (Eps. 2, 8)
Times Placed Low 2 (Eps. 5, 9)
Times as Team Captain: 0
Times in Bottom 2: 0
Episode Eliminated: N/A

Initially unpopular amongst the other Season 7 contestants due to her snobbish attitude, Violet was frequently picked last for team challenges. She had some struggle with acting, and comedy challenges but always was close to win or actually won fashion, and performative challenges (as in Episode 2, "Glamazonian Airways", in which was named as one of the Top 3).

Just like Ginger Minj, Violet won 3 main challenges (in Episode 1 "Born Naked", teamed with Katya on Episode 10 "Prancing Queens", and Episode 11 "Hello, Kitty Girls!"), but she was the only one who didn't have to compete in a lip sync not to be eliminated during Season 7. These facts, her eye-catching looks, and unshakeable confidence made Chachki, in Episode 14, "Reunited", be the 7th crowned "America's Next Drag Superstar".
